Today, intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the primary procedures performed while treating less severe causes of infertility like ovulatory dysfunction, cervical hostility, early endometriosis, mild male factor problems and even in those with unknown etiology. In spite of this widespread popularity, there is considerable variation in ultimate result reported. This inconsistency could be attributed to lack in uniformity in patient selection, clinical execution and technology used. Divided into seven sections covering topics related to general, andrology, ovulation, special situations, various procedures, results of IUI along with last section on inception and future of IUI. This handbook on IUI covers a range of topics starting with basic physiological aspects, progressing to the management of different clinical groups like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and unexplained infertility, dealing with technical details and practical difficulties and finally ending with a look at the future prospects. Provides a clear and concise aspect of how, when, why and therefore of IUI and helps to navigate the procedure smoothly and successfully. The authors, who are experts from different corners of the country, have dealt with this subject in its entirety by elaborating upon accepted recommendations, sharing personal experiences and covering aspects where recent advances have been made as part of a balanced clinical appraisal. It will prove useful for practicing gynaecologists and consultants as well as postgraduate students.
